7 Weight Loss Hacks to Lose 100 Pounds

Welcome!  If you’ve landed on this post you are likely looking for some helpful tips to jump start your own weight loss and this is a great place to start!  I’ve shared my journey to lose 100 pounds in a previous post on this blog.  It has been quite a while since I lost the weight and I have been in maintenance now for 4 years.  Wherever you are in your journey, these 7 hacks can be useful for losing weight, as well as keeping it off!

7 Helpful Hacks That Helped Me Lose the Weight

  1.   Don’t let one meal ruin your whole day.  Choosing a croissant at breakfast doesn’t mean you have to eat recklessly for the rest of the day.  Or worse, wait until next week to start over!

2.  Stop eating when you feel the sensation of being “full”.  There may be food still on                 your plate.  You don’t HAVE to finish it!

3.  Try weighing once every two weeks or so.  Mentally give yourself a “worse-case                        scenario” number before you step on the scale so you are prepared.  It’ll probably be                lower, but even if it’s not, you’ll be more mentally prepared.

4.  Portion size is everything.  Too much healthy food is still overeating.

5.  When possible, don’t eyeball it, measure your food with measuring cups/spoons.

6.  Avoid excusing poor food choices with exercise. It’s easy to say, “Oh, well I ran 5                       miles this morning, this bag of chips is no big deal”.  There is so much truth in the                    saying, “You can’t out exercise a poor diet”.

7.  Keep healthy snacks and water on hand as much as possible.  When you are craving a           junk food snack or meal, drink some water and eat your healthy snack/meal first.  Wait             10-15 minutes and see if you even still want the indulgence.

    I just stumbled upon your site when I was searching for some additional ‘healthy living tips’ on google.

    I really enjoyed this article and whole heartedly agree with a LOT of these tips.

    One of MY biggest struggles with weight loss was portion control. I LOVE to eat!!! (don’t we all?)

    I also struggled with frustration on a day to day basis by weighing myself every day…..sometimes even more than once a day!

    I got so frustrated that I wasnt losing weight some days, and I even gained a pound here and there between days. I would get so down on myself about the lack of progress……but I eventually learned not to weigh myself more than twice a week.

    I actually only check once a week now on my weight to help keep it under control!

    Anyways, I figured i would say HI and thank you for the good info on your blog!

    Great Piece! It sort of re-enforced my belief that it can be done. I will definitely try to include all of these 7 hacks you mentioned in my daily routine. One of these hacks I already use is to drink loads of water.

    It sort of keeps you full and also is good for your body to repair cells. Anyway, It was a good read.
